First luxury hotel comes up on Amwaj

Manama, July 5, 2009

Amwaj has launched its first hotel - The Dragon, a BD22 million ($58.3 million) luxury project, and designed to resemble a dragon, complete with private infinity pools and magnificent seafront views - to preside over the majestic reclaimed islands.

The Dragon Hotel & Resort will be managed by Gamma Hotel Management, one of Bahrain’s leading hotel companies that provides comprehensive hotel management services. It provides hotel management expertise to a range of clients, from small independent properties to corporate businesses.

The Dragon Hotel & Resort offers a range of lavish accommodations including suites, chalets, and immense villas all lining the water and opulent contemporary décor.

Amitabh Mathur, director of the Dragon Hotel & Resort said: “We are thrilled to launch Amwaj Island’s very first premier hotel and resort. Every suite offers open sea views right after the water’s edge of shimmering infinity pools, and most suites have their own terrace leading out to the pool areas.”

The three-level villas all have four bedrooms and feature their own private terrace, garden, Jacuzzi, a swimming pool right on the sea, and include exclusive perks like futuristic elevator lifts, he noted.

Being the first hotel to inhabit the heart of Amwaj Islands, and just minutes away from the airport, the Dragon is creating quite a stir throughout Kingdom, he added.

'Not only will it serve as an exceptional getaway with luxurious amenities and first class services, but it will also offer a host of leisure and entertainment facilities open to the public.'

The accommodations are spacious with spectacular views of infinity pools set against the backdrop of the infinite sea. The deluxe chalets have two spacious levels and consist of both three and four bedrooms.

'The Dragon Hotel & Resort was designed in the shape of a sleeping dragon, with its long neck stretching across the water to form a conical dragon-like head, reminiscent of a majestic giant watching over the great waters of the Arabian Gulf,' he explained.

'Its distinctive dragon scales prevail over the land, marking the hotel’s most unique and iconic architectural feature,' he added.

The Dragon will feature two fine dining establishments and two trendy first class lounges right on the sea that will attract fashionable visitors from across Bahrain.

Visitors will also come from far and wide to relax in style at the famous UK based spa & salon Toni & Guy, the most powerful hairdressing brand in the world.

“The Dragon will offer guests an unparalleled contemporary experience that they are sure to remember. After all, how many people can say that they stayed in the ‘Dragon’?,” said Mathur.

Amwaj Islands is a 9.14 sq km man-made island development situated just off the northeastern tip of the island of Muharraq.

Conveniently located, it is only a 10 minute drive from the Bahrain International Airport. It is a sophisticated seafront community with immaculate beaches and unmatched conveniences such as schools, hospitals, waterfront shopping and even a theme park.-TradeArabia News Service
