Alosra launches scheme to support local entrepreneurship

MANAMA, January 12, 2021

Alosra supermarket has launched ‘Mahali’, a local entrepreneurship support programme, as the latest addition to the supermarket’s ‘Think Local’ initiative that was introduced in 2011 to support local producers, businesses, and the community.

Alosra is now taking its support of all things local a step further by joining forces with Bahraini entrepreneurs who are looking for support and a helping hand.

‘Mahali’, which means ‘local’ or ‘my place’ in Arabic, aims to nurture small businesses and support them towards getting their products to the public on shelves in Alosra.

‘Mahali’ will help selected participants develop their entrepreneurial leadership skills, provide access to funding up to a total of BD5,000 and offer a hands-on approach towards building and growing venture. Furthermore, they will be granted access to free shelf space at Alosra supermarket, the supermarket said.

Alosra is calling out to all Bahraini entrepreneurs that are 18 years old and above and who own a legally registered business to apply to the ‘Mahali’ programme and take their start-up products to the next level. Those interested in applying can find more information about benefits and criteria in the application form, which can be accessed through QR scanning at Alosra outlets, social media channels, alosraonline.com and the Alosra mobile application. The deadline for application is February 1.

Alosra is proud to introduce this latest programme in line with its longstanding commitment to support all things local, said Jaffar Al Asfoor, Alosra’s General Manager. “As a Bahraini owned supermarket, we are continuously committed to extending our support to local producers, entrepreneurs and the community,” he said. “We look forward to receiving the applications for ‘Mahali’ and further highlighting Bahraini products in the market.”

“We are proud to create an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to receive this support and provide them with guidance and mentorship where needed,” added May Al Mousawi, Corporate Communications and CSR Manager for Alosra’s parent company, the BMMI Group. “Bahrainis who have a great consumer product can now see it on our shelves. We are looking forward to working with these entrepreneurs and supporting them on their journey.”  - TradeArabia News Service
