Alshaya set for major Kuwait mall expansion

KUWAIT, March 11, 2018

Retail franchise operator MH Alshaya Company is preparing to introduce 11 new brands to Kuwait when The Avenues Phase Four opens later this month, reinforcing the company’s commitment to offering a wide choice of shopping and dining experiences to its customers.

The new openings will further strengthen Alshaya’s presence at Kuwait’s largest commercial and entertainment centre, and one of the largest malls in the region and the world.

The new brands opening for the first time in Kuwait include cosmetics and skincare powerhouse NYX, Asian beauty brand Etude House, boutique handcrafted fragrances brand Le Labo, and Scandinavian natural beauty brand Tromborg.

Monki and & Other Stories will add a dash of newness to the local fashion scene by opening their first stores. Both brands are part of the global fashion and design company, H&M group, which already delights local shoppers with its popular H&M, H&M Home and COS brands.

Food brands making their market entry to Kuwait include pizza and Italian restaurant 400 Gradi; Cleo, a dining destination that combines Mediterranean charm with Hollywood glamour, and will be opening its first restaurant outside the US; and trend-setting pizza brand Blaze Pizza, which is taking the US by storm with exceptional quality delivered at lightning-fast speed.

Additional brands following later in the year include the Italian pizza brand Spontini and the brand-new family and entertainment concept Tek Zone.

Other highlights of the multi-brand opening by Alshaya include The Avenues’ first Starbucks Reserve Bar; new concept stores for The Body Shop and Bath and Body Works; the opening of AVEDA’s first combined retail store, salon and treatment centre in the country; and the first standalone store for Phase Eight and Clinique. Iconic footwear and accessories brand Kurt Geiger also makes its debut at The Avenues.

Shoppers will also get to experience the largest Debenhams in the world outside the UK. A three-floor celebration of fashion and style, the new Debenhams store offers a total of 150 brands, including 40 new fashion brands and 20 new cosmetics brands, including full assortment counters for Tom Ford, Huda Beauty and Urban Decay.

Expansion into The Avenues Phase Four is part of an ongoing growth story for Alshaya, which today operates more than 3,900 stores in the Middle East and North Africa, Russia, Turkey and Europe, across retail sectors that include fashion and footwear, food, health and beauty, pharmacy, optics and home furnishings, said the company statement.
