$109m mall opens in Dubai’s Jumeirah

DUBAI, February 22, 2016

The Dh400 million ($109 million) The Mall, a new shopping and entertainment destination located in the Jumeirah District of Dubai, UAE, opened yesterday (February 21) debuting new fashion brands, restaurants and entertainment options.

Moov Contracting, a leading Dubai-based real estate contractor for construction and maintenance made the announcement during a press conference held to inaugurate The Mall.

The inauguration was attended by the company’s senior management, including Meadhad Rashed Meadhad Al Mehairi, owner of The Mall, Obaid Saeed Bin Meshar, chairman, Moov Contracting LLC; and Nancy Nese Ozbek, general manager, The Mall.

Strategically located across the iconic Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, The Mall will add a uniquely pleasing effect to the redevelopment of the Jumeirah’s façade with its lush Art Deco style architectural elements, a statement said.

Designed to receive plenty of sunlight through floral skylights, the retail facility also features a signature water feature that drops down from the escalator leading to the first floor. The Mall spans 80,756 sq ft of area, featuring shops on ground and first floors along with basement parking for 200 cars and valet parking service.

Bin Meshar said: “Dubai’s retail industry remains vibrant, which is further reinforced by the fact that the emirate has been named as the second most important international shopping destination globally after London. In fact, its retail potential of 2.4 million residents is valued at Dh63 billion and set to grow by 8.5 per cent per annum while it averages Dh1,000 per tourist which will get a further boost as the city welcomes over 20 million tourists by 2020.”

“Looking to play a key role in continued growth and evolution of Dubai’s retail landscape, Moov Contracting has inaugurated The Mall with a refreshingly new concept in shopping and leisure at Jumeirah district. We are confident that The Mall will soon become the new meeting point for visitors, including residents, regional and international tourists for its idyllic location, branded fashion, lifestyle stores, food and beverage options,” he added.

The Mall, which currently has 100 per cent occupancy, will have 66 units, including 7 kiosks in total. Aside from a gourmet supermarket for daily provisions, it will host tenants from 12 countries, including Lebanon, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Pakistan, Japan, Russia, China, the US and the UAE.

Nearly 70 to 80 per cent of the retail outlets are being introduced in the UAE and the GCC for the first time. In addition, The Mall will house some of the leading names within the food and beverage industry. The new facility will also accommodate a unique kid’s entertainment concept, financial services and a government office to ensure guest’s convenience.

“Jumeirah is an upscale district of Dubai that is visited by tourists and locals for its popular hotels, water parks, food joints, parks and beaches,” Bin Meshar continued.

“The Mall, with its lush architecture, international branded stores, and wide options in leisure and entertainment, adds to the bustling tourist culture of the community while addressing the changing needs of today’s mall goers. We have carefully chosen our retail partners who will deliver consistently superior service and quality to enhance the experience that we offer to our visitors.

“The mix of indoor and outdoor setting is the highlight of the store that will provide a distinct shopping and a memorable dining experience to visitors all through the year,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
