Etisalat brings Ericsson Radio Dot to Dubai Mall

DUBAI, February 10, 2016

Ericsson has partnered with leading telecom operator Etisalat to bring the Ericsson Radio Dot System to the Dubai Outlet Mall in Dubai, UAE, offering indoor cellular connectivity to shoppers, vendors.

The Ericsson Radio Dot System more than doubles download speeds compared with the Mall’s previously installed indoor system. Offering reliable, secure and high-performance cellular connectivity is increasingly important to the hospitality sector in order to meet consumer demands for digitized retail experiences.

The Ericsson Radio Dot System is a compact small cell radio solution weighing less than 300 grams. Its design, conceived to fit into any environment, offers a number of user advantages: throughput is improved by up to five times, dropped calls are reduced to zero, and installation times can be as low as four minutes per Dot. The Ericsson Radio Dot System has also been designed to consume less power than traditional indoor solutions and improve battery lifetime for the devices.

Saeed AlZarouni, senior vice president - Mobile Network from Etisalat, said: “Retail is an industry in transformation in terms of technology, behaviour and business practices. As a result, more brick-and-mortar stores are increasingly dependent on indoor small cells for connectivity and mobility.”

“Using the Ericsson Radio Dot System, we are able to address our customers’ growing requirements. Today, we are focused on improving customer experience by adopting the latest world-class technologies and pushing the boundaries of innovation,” he added.

Petter Järtby, head of Global Customer Unit Etisalat at Ericsson, said: “As users of connected devices spend the majority of their time inside, enhancing indoor app coverage and performance is essential for a high-quality customer experience. The Ericsson Radio Dot System ensures Etisalat can deliver an exceptional mobile broadband experience throughout indoor sites such as shopping malls, residential buildings, enterprises and offices.”  - TradeArabia News Service
