Omani products on show at Carrefour Hypermarkets

MUSCAT, November 12, 2014

The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) has opened the Omani Products Exhibition at the Carrefour Hypermarket in Muscat City Centre, aimed at creating a wide awareness on the locally manufactured products.

The 10-day exhibition will run till November 20 at all Carrefour branches in the Sultanate, in line with the 44th National Day celebrations.

The exhibition comes as part of the series of events of the 'Omani 2014' campaign and in line with the continuous co-operation between PEIE and several commercial centres in Oman.

Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani, CEO of PEIE stressed that the principal objective of the exhibition is to promote local products among citizens and residents of Oman to further instill the culture of purchasing Omani products.

“The Omani products have occupied a prominent level locally and abroad, thanks to the support given by the Sultanate’s government under the wise leadership of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Besides, this exhibition is one among various initiatives undertaken by PEIE to support locally manufactured products and services, and to advance the contribution of the industrial sector to the GDP of Oman, and thus diversify the sources of income,” he said.

“During the next phase, PEIE in cooperation with competent institutions from the public and private sectors will adopt media initiatives that attempt to raise consumer awareness, individuals and institutions, on the importance of supporting Omani products and the impact this holds on the society as a whole,” said Al Hasani.

“This year, the number of SMEs displaying and selling their products has increased compared to the previous years, which verifies the quality attained by these products and their ability to win confidence of the commercial centres in the various governorates of Oman.”

Meanwhile, the PEIE is also organising a series of Omani Products Exhibition in the various schools throughout the country.

It is in line with an memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed between PEIE and Ministry of Education aimed at disseminating awareness on the importance of supporting locally manufactured products among the educational community.

It is also planning to hold Omani Products Exhibition in co-operation with the Omani Women’s Associations. - TradeArabia News Service
