Growl Media, Samsung sign new partnership deal

Dubai, July 15, 2014

Growl Media, a Dubai-based start-up which creates culturally-relevant ‘edutainment’ content and apps for children, has signed a long-term partnership deal with Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Under the deal, Growl Media has announced that Zee, one of their characters, is the new brand ambassador for the Samsung Galaxy Tab for kids.

Dinesh Lalvani, founder and CEO of Growl Media, proprietor of Apply Kids, the brand under which their apps are released, said: "Samsung is a respected, popular brand name in the Middle East that makes quality, hi-tech products for consumers around the globe and Growl Media does the same. Teaming up with Samsung to provide locally relevant content to the region is an exciting development in the Growl Media story.

Growl Media creates interactive content targeted at children aged one to six, based on the principles of the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

Since its inception, it has created seven apps and two main characters - Alfie and Zee. Alfie is a little boy from India who is curious and imaginative and goes on adventures with his baby elephant best friend, Haathi and their magical bioscope. Zee is a young Arab girl who is daring and adventurous; she dreams of traveling all around the world like the great Arab explorer, Ibn Battuta.

One of several Arabic/English apps released by Growl Media, Zee's Alif Ba has been downloaded over 200,000 times since its launch in November last year, and has been featured as the number one app in 18 countries.

Raj Verma, head of mobility sales division, Samsung, said: "At Samsung, we understand the need to provide content for all the family, and incorporating education into the mix is important for parents and children alike. More so, we understand the need to speak in a language that is understood by our customers, not only linguistically, but also culturally. We believe Growl Media can help support us in this endeavour, proven by the popularity it has already seen on the worldwide web.

"We are especially excited that Zee will serve as our new Galaxy Tab ambassador. With its child-friendly features and easy to use colourful interface, it is the perfect platform on which to download the Appy Kids apps."

The Galaxy Tab for kids has a parental area, protected by a personal identification number (PIN), allowing parents to set a limit on screen time, making it the ideal device for little ones.

All eight of the Appy Kids apps are now available for download on the Samsung App Store. The customers will find the Zee's Alif Ba app on Samsung's Galaxy Tab for kids in stores across Dubai. - TradeArabia News Service
