LuLu Hypermarket's Bahrain operations has won the Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) "Best Retailer of the Year" award for its performance as a consumer information technology (IT) supplies retailer.

The annual award, assessed by a jury of retail channel experts, commended the four-strong hypermarket chain in Bahrain for showing strong sales in PC, tablets, PC accessories, tablet and phone accessories, imaging, storage, smart phones, hardware and networking software, audio accessories and wearables categories, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

This year's MERA awards included four submission-based categories, including two brand new awards.

All entries were assessed by a VIP jury of retail channel experts, with the overall winner in each category announced at the "MERA: 2014 Awards" gala held in Abu Dhabi in conjunction with Distree Middle East Event.

"We are particularly delighted that LuLu Hypermarket, Bahrain, has won the MERA Best Retailer of the Year award for its performance as top IT retail channel," remarked LuLu Hypermarket regional director Juzer Rupawala.

LuLu Hypermarket entered Bahrain in 2007 and has four hypermarkets in the kingdom - at Hidd, Riffa, in Ramli Mall at A'ali and in Dana Mall, Manama.
