The Sennheiser Group, a leading manufacturer of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems, has unveiled its Esfera 5.1 surround microphone system at Cabsat expo, a leading broadcast digital media and satellite expo in the MEA region, which began in Dubai today (March 11).

 

The company is also showcasing its range of wired and wireless solutions including its latest microphones, studio monitors and its flagship Digital 9000 system, said a statement.

 

Ryan Burr, technical sales manager at Sennheiser Middle East, said: “Live sporting venues will particularly benefit from Esfera's ability to deliver reliable and uncomplicated 5.1 HD audio. The system can be quickly installed and supports an extensive range of customisable deployment scenarios. 

 

“Furthermore, it offers the flexibility of converting the two audio channels to 5.1 either onsite or after transmission to local broadcasters.”

 

The system consists of a high-quality stereo microphone, designed with Sennheiser’s renowned RF condenser technology and a 19-inch rack-mount processing unit that converts the stereo signal into a complete 5.1 signal. 

 

As the system only occupies two of the four audio inputs on broadcast cameras, it allows crews to also work with other microphones such as clip-on and boom microphones. It also allows the recording of 5.1 surround sound from a wireless camera.

 

In addition to its line of audio solutions, Sennheiser is also demonstrating products from Georg Neumann, part of the Sennheiser Group. This includes Neumann’s new TLM-107 ‘all-rounder’ studio microphone. 

 

“The exhibition is an opportunity for professionals to get a bit of hands-on time with the pinnacle of wireless microphone technology, the Digital 9000 system. The Middle East is a massive market and although we regularly conduct road-shows and partner events, it is not always possible to have the desired amount of face time with existing and potential partners,” said Burr.
