Dubai Duty Free wins top global award
Dubai, December 30, 2012
Dubai Duty Free (DDF) was recently presented with the Best Duty Free Shops award by US-based magazine Global Traveler (GT) for the sixth consecutive year at a ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.
The Global Traveler Awards are the result of an annual reader’s survey which attracted over 28,000 responses and was conducted from January 1 to August 31.
Discerning travellers recognized airlines, hotels, loyalty programs and travel-related products in 71 travel-related categories. Over the past nine years, Global Traveler’s reporting has placed the GT Tested Reader Survey among the most highly regarded in the industry.
Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman of Dubai Duty Free said, “We are delighted to accept this award for the sixth consecutive year and we thank the readers of the Global Traveler magazine for once again voting for Dubai Duty Free for being the very best of the best.”
The Global Traveler USA Award follows on from the Frontier Award for Best Airport Retailer of the Year won by Dubai Duty Free for an unprecedented sixth time. The Frontier award was presented in October during the annual Tax Free World Association (TFWA) in Cannes.
DDF celebrated its 29th Anniversary on December 20 with a 25 per cent discount offer on a wide range of merchandise, with the daily sales reaching Dh76.91 million ($21 million) in the 24-hour period.
Looking forward at the end of the year, Dubai Duty Free is expecting to record sales figures close to Dh5.9 billion ($1.6 billion), a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
