'Divine' dolls
, December 15, 2014
Kachina dolls made by the Native American Hopi and Zuni tribes are displayed at the Drouot auction house in Paris before auction, on December 15. The Hopi, some of whose 18,000 members continue to follow a traditional way of life farming on three isolated mesas, believe the bright, mostly fabric masks are imbued with the spirits of divine messengers.
