Swiss salt

, December 4, 2012

A machine moves salt in the warehouse of the salt mine in Bex, Switzerland on December 4. Salt has been discovered by local habitants in the 15th century when they noticed their goats preferred to drink from a spring which they eventually found out contained salt. Most of the 30,000 tons of salt extracted each year goes for the roads maintenance in winter, the rest is for the food industry and is sold exclusively in the Canton de Vaud.
