SPSP and IFP reach an MoU

SPSP signs MoU with IFP for ACT Eng Programme

Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic (SPSP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to start ACT Eng programme to train and certify young Saudi engineers with IFP, a French institute which is a subsidiary of the IFP group that was created in 1975 to develop the skills of oil and gas professionals worldwide and to offer a wide range of training solutions in sectors as varied as exploration and production, refining, petrochemicals and services. 
 
The programme covers all engineering, operations and maintenance competencies and skills. These training programmes have IFP Training accreditation and are combined with SPSP technical seminars to address specific operations and processes, quality assurance, leadership experience and technical capabilities to provide hands-on training to be organised within SPSP premises in Saudi Arabia.
 
The programme consists of 12 modules covered in 12 months. The training delivery consists of one week in class followed by three weeks of On-Job Training (OJT). The one-week classroom component consists of class presentations, mini-project presentations, assessment and final exam.
 
ACT-Eng programme was launched on January 27, 2019 at SPSP in Dammam with the first intake of 17 engineers sponsored by Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery (Sasref) and Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (Satorp) in Jubail. 
 
The second intake of 24 engineers was sponsored by Saudi Aramco for Jizan Refinery and was conducted at Jizan Refinery and its launching ceremony was attended by Saudi Aramco Jazan Project General Manager Yahya A Abushal and SPSP CEO Bassam Al-Bokhari and the Programme Director, Eng Ali Al-Zahrani. The third intake of 17 engineers was sponsored by Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company (Samref), Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company (Yasref), and Saudi Aramco Base Oil Company (Luberef) engineers and was conducted in Yanbu.  
 
Upon successful completion of the ACT-Eng programme, IFP provides certification that qualifies the graduates to pursue a Graduate Diploma and M.Sc. in Engineering which is internationally recognised. -- Tradearabia News Service
