SHARJAH, May 2, 2019

The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) has cancelled all of the electrical overhead transmission lines and wires of low pressure 420 kVA in the authority’s Central Region, replacing them with ground power cables.

The cost of the project is over Dh30 million ($8.17 million), reported the state news agency Wam.

The authority has also stopped 1000 electrical columns for high-pressure lines 33 kVA, is in line with Sewa's strategy to enhance the efficiency of power grids.

Commenting on this, Rashid Al Leem, chairman of Sewa, said that the development of the energy and water projects in the Central Region comes in line with the directives of Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Stressing that the authority continues to implement maintenance and development projects in the region, Rashid Al Leem commented that the project aims to achieve security and safety.
