Dewa to install solar carports in ministry building

DUBAI, October 25, 2017

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment for the installation of solar carports at the ministry’s building in Dubai, UAE.

These solar carports will have a total capacity of 220 kW/h, said the state news agency Wam.

The memoradum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and CEO of Dewa, in the presence of Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and director-general of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau at the Wetex 2017, in Dubai, UAE.

This pact is part of government efforts to continue the sustainable development efforts and make a balance between the economic, social, and environmental development," stated Al Zeyoudi.

It also supports the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 to create a sustainable environment," he added.

Al Tayer said: "The MoU is part of integrated efforts among local and federal organisations to achieve the vision of the UAE's wise leadership to continue sustainable development efforts, and balance economic, social and environmental development in the country."

"This supports the UAE Vision 2021 to create a sustainable environment in terms of air quality, reducing the carbon footprint, and increasing reliance on clean energy," he added.
