Empower saves power worth $707m in 2016

DUBAI, April 2, 2017

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), a leading district cooling services provider, has recorded a milestone achievement in power saving that touched 1000 megawatts in 2016, equivalent to Dh2.6 billion ($707.8 million).

The company said the saving isn’t only impressive in terms of money but also environmentally as it means less consumption of energy and more preservation of natural resources.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, chief executive officer, Empower, said: “Efficiency and conservation are two main pillars in our general policy. We continuously work in enhancing the effectiveness of our services as well as save energy and reserve environmental resources without compromising on the quality of our services.”

“We crossed an important advancement in this regard in the past years. We don’t only save electricity but also our statistics state that we are saving on gas emissions and water consumptions through district cooling,” he said.

“We are very committed to contributing to the country’s efforts in aiming to reduce the use of conventional energy. This serves Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 that aims to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come,” he added.

“Our company’s strategy for this year and coming years include exerting more efforts to ensure more service efficiency to rationalise the energy use. We expect a higher number of users in the coming period of our services as part of the global drive towards using district cooling technologies instead of conventional ones,” he added.
 
Empower believes that district cooling is designed to achieve the interests of all parties, whether end users or developers, and the society at large. It also accelerates economic development by providing environment-friendly services that reduce wastage of natural resources.

Empower currently operates more than 1.25 million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, Dubai Design District,  among others, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
