Saudi Aramco project launch hit by heavy rains

JEDDAH, November 28, 2016

State oil giant Saudi Aramco was forced to postpone the launch of several mega projects in the Eastern Province owing to the continuing bad weather and heavy rainfall in the kingdom, said a report.

These development projects were to be inaugurated by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, reported Arab News.

Saudi Aramco apologised on its Twitter account for not being able to go ahead with the launch ceremony as heavy rainfall and strong winds caused a water leakage at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) site, said the report.

Rainwater penetrated the building through its main entrances and the parts under construction, and flooded the squares surrounding the site, it.stated.

A probe will soon be conducted into the incident and in case of negligence, those responsible will be held accountable, added the report, citing senior government sources.
