Oman engineering college working on solar project

MUSCAT, June 26, 2016

The College of Engineering at Oman's Sultan Qaboos University (SQU)  is presently working on a novel project to generate electricity with the help of solar panels at an investment of RO216,000 ($559,093), said a report.

The panels, which have been set up at the college campus' car parks facility, aim to generate 290 Megawatthours (MWh) of electricity with the help of 675 solar panels, said a report.

Funded by Jacobs International, the project stems from SQU’s efforts to find alternative energy sources that push the economy forward, reported Oman Observer.

The College of Engineering decided to execute the project in order to exploit the spacious car parks at the university campus, it added.
