Emerson breaks ground on new Saudi facility

DHAHRAN (Saudi Arabia), January 19, 2016

Emerson Process Management said it has broken ground on its new technology development, customer training, and project support facility in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

A business of US-based Emerson, the company is a leader in helping businesses automate their production, processing and distribution in the chemical, oil and gas, refining, pulp and paper, power, water and wastewater treatment, food and beverage and mining and metal industries.

The new facility, to come up on a 11,370-sq-m area at the Dhahran Techno Valley in the kingdom, will provide services and support to the oil and gas, mining and other process industries across the kingdom.

It will be equipped with resources and capabilities to develop automation solutions, deliver lifecycle services, and train local talent.

The technology and training centre will house offices, training facilities, a service and light manufacturing workshop, and laboratories focused on control systems, flow metering technologies, and research and development.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Dave Tredinnick, president of Emerson Process Management (Middle East and Africa), said the project is a testament to the critical importance of Saudi Arabia to Emerson’s growth in the region.

“The new facility and our local Saudi organisation will lead to greater collaboration between Emerson, local universities, and our customers, and complements our manufacturing capabilities in Jubail,” he noted.

The Techno Valley technology and training centre is scheduled for completion in May next year.

Dr Halim H Redhwi, the chief executive officer of Dhahran Techno Valley, said Emerson is recognised for its innovation and continues to lead by investing in engineering and technology development.

"The new centre will help shape the next generation of Saudi talent and bring economic returns for the kingdom, especially in the petroleum and minerals sector," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
