Al Tayer and Al Hosani at the MoU signing
Dewa in partnership for disaster management
DUBAI, UAE, December 30, 2015
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has partnered with the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) to enhance cooperation and allow exchange of knowledge in the disaster management field.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was recently signed between Dewa managing director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer and Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Hosani, director general of NCEMA.
Commenting on the new partnership, Al Tayer said: “This MoU falls in line with Dewa’s strategic risk management plans, to improve risk management preparations, and to identify roles and responsibilities in case an emergency were to occur, and to reinforce Dubai’s status as a cosmopolitan city.”
“Dewa cooperates with various government organisations and departments to coordinate, and unify efforts, to make preparations, should any kind of emergency occur, while focusing on the strategic importance of electricity and water,” he added.
The MoU will allow the exchange of resources, skills, and knowledge between both parties. It will also allow both parties to be up-to-date regarding the latest crisis and emergency systems, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), said a statement from Dewa.
Dr Al Hosani remarked: “The signing of this MoU is in line with our continuous efforts to achieve the NCEMA’s mission to further fuel the UAE’s ability to face and manage crises,’ emergencies, and disasters, to determine business continuity requirements during these incidents, and to recover via the means of coordinated preparation, by using all available skills, and communication tools, at federal, and local levels, to save people, and their properties.” -TradeArabia News Service
