Siemens wins $400m Dubai power plant expansion deal

ABU DHABI, February 19, 2015

German industrial group Siemens has been awarded a Dh1.47 billion ($400.2 million) contract to expand the M-Station power plant in Dubai, the emirate's state-owned utility said on Thursday.

The expansion will increase its electricity-generating capacity to 2,700 megawatts, from 2,060 MWs, at the gas-powered facility, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) said in a statement.

The expansion should be completed by the end of April 2018, Dewa added.

The utility last month said it was close to awarding the contract for the project. – Reuters
