Canadian oil and gas industry solution provider Katch Kan has launched its Middle East headquarters in Bahrain.

Its top official said the company would have a 100-strong team to address 'one of the wealthiest parts of the world with energy-related natural resources,’ said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The company's founder, president and chief executive Quinn Holtby told the GDN that Katch Kan's range of solutions would help industry players prevent work-related injuries, improve operational productivity while protecting the environment.

“We will be also working on expanding our distribution channels across the region to keep our customers up-to-date with our latest products and services while providing them timely support,” he said.

The Bahrain operation is the company's first office outside Canada and the US.

Holtby said over the past years, the company had been expanding its business in the region and had retained a portfolio of customers.

“This encouraged us to bring our support services closer to them and our distributors,” he said.

According to him, the central achievements of Katch Kan are the 'Rig Safety System' and 'Zero Spill System'.

“These innovative systems of technology work together to optimise the health and safety of those involved with upstream projects, drastically minimise pollution and enables oil and gas production to occur in a proactive eco-efficient manner,” Holtby said.

“The 'Zero Spill System' lead to less water usage, less trucking and emissions; a significant return on investment for the oil company.

It was designed in response to industry feedback, regulatory concerns and environmental specialists demanding an easier, more efficient and safe way to contain production fluids and drilling fluids, from releasing into the natural environment, he said.

“The Rig Safety System and the Zero Spill System when used together capture lost drilling fluid, and redirect the lost fluids to be recycled and/or reused.”

The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza and in the presence of Canadian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen Thomas MacDonald. - TradeArabia News Service
