Mina Al Ahmadi ... revamp on its way

Kuwait's Ahmadi starts overhaul for more than one month

DUBAI, February 9, 2015

Kuwait has started a month-long overhaul of its largest refinery, the 442,000 barrels per day (bpd) Mina Al Ahmadi, a spokesman of state-run oil refiner Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) said.

The refinery has started a major revamp to its processing facilities "nonetheless the refinery total crude processing capacities will not be affected by the outage of the downstream units," spokesman Khalid al-Asousi told Reuters. He said the units would come back one line in March.

A shortage in gasoline products was forecast due to the refinery work, he said but "cargos would be scheduled to bridge any shortfall in production during this period, however middle distillate sales will be moderately affected during this period." --Reuters
