Iraq ... oil exports fall

Iraq's south oil exports dip to 2.389 mbpd in January

BASRA, February 3, 2015

Iraq's southern oil exports dipped in January to an average of 2.389 million barrels per day (mbpd) from a record high in December, officials from the state-run South Oil Co (SOC) said.

The previous month, southern exports averaged 2.76 mbpd. The slowdown was due to bad weather around the offshore terminals in the Gulf, two SOC officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"Rough weather around export terminals caused repeated disruptions to loading operations in January. We had to halt exports completely on some days," said one official.

The southern oilfields produce the bulk of Iraq's oil and the terminals are its main outlet to world markets.
