Oman power company opens new HQ

MUSCAT, January 21, 2015

Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has announced the opening of its new headquarters in Mawalih in the Seeb district of the sultanate.

The new headquarters was inaugurated by Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Mahrooqi, the CEO of the Public Authority of Electricity and Water (PAEW).

The new facility complements OETC’s current and future strategy and encompasses a campus that fulfils the company’s needs for a loading hubs, warehousing spaces as well as recreation facilities for its employees, said a statement from the company.

It also boasts many energy efficient technologies including smart lighting systems as well as an integrated cooling system which efficiently reduces energy consumption.

The new headquarters also has the latest safety technologies which include early smoke detection and suction, automatic sprinklers and fire resistant walls and doors, this goes hand in training the staff with all the safety drills and first aid training in case of emergency, it added.  

OETC chief executive Ali bin Saeed Al Hidabi said although the building blocks for this project was laid three years ago, the actual inception began on the first day that OETC was founded back in 2005.

"It is a great honour for OETC to be part of the progress of the Sultanate. The company in recent years has been able to accomplish several key projects and in turn contribute towards the country's economic growth," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
