Top UK consultancy wins Oman oil contract

London, June 24, 2014

UK-based Turner & Townsend, a global programme management and construction consultancy, has been appointed by Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) to provide contract and senior contract consultancy support to its business in Oman.

The consultancy has been awarded a two-year framework with the potential to extend for a further 12 months. The team will provide pre-contract purchasing and procurement support to Orpic.

Orpic is one of Oman’s largest companies, with over 1,600 employees, and refineries in both Muscat and Sohar. It has a significant capital investment programme with work involving three major projects over the next four years - a multiproduct fuels pipeline, the improvement of its Sohar Refinery and the Liwa Plastics Project.

Mike Collings, managing director, Middle East for Turner & Townsend, said: “This major win for our team in Oman is testament to our hard work and dedication to the sector. With key clients such as Orpic, alongside major projects PDO and Ultra Electronics in the region, there is no doubt our dedication is paying off, and our reputation for efficient delivery is recognised among clients across the sector.”

Ibrahim Al Kalbani of Orpic, added: “Turner and Townsend’s experience in our market is unparalleled. It was clear from the outset that the team understood our market and our needs, and we are delighted to have them on board.” – TradeArabia News Service
