Bapco to boost occupational safety at refinery

Manama, February 18, 2014

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has launched a campaign to foster occupational safety at the refinery, said a report.

'Hand Safety' campaign is spearheaded by Bapco's environment, health and safety committee and will run until Thursday.

It aims to enhance awareness among Bapco and its contractors' employees in reducing and eliminating the number of hand injuries, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Bapco's deputy chief executive for refining and marketing and committee chairman Ebrahim Talib said a panel has been formed to organise the campaign and it consists of members from several departments.

"The campaign will be held at the refinery's cafeteria and will focus on personal protective equipment (gloves), hand hygiene, hand injuries in office environment, on-job and off-job hand injuries and an informative hand safety video," stated Talib.

In addition a road show will be held on Wednesday and Thursday and will target Bapco employees and contractors in the field, covering many areas of the company's facilities," he remarked.

"The aim of the campaign is to ensure that employees and contractors return home at the end of every workday without injury," Talib added.-TradeArabia News Service
