Bahrain’s Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has issued directives to step up oil and gas production, and continue work to discover new resources.

He affirmed the government's constant desire to develop the country's oil wealth, an essential tributary of national economy, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

He also stressed the government's determination to enhance non-oil revenues in order to lay the foundation for a solid economy.

This came as the Premier yesterday received at Gudaibiya Palace Finance Minister and Minister in Charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and representatives of the National Oil and Gas Authority and Bapco, who informed him about the latest developments in the oil and gas sector in the kingdom.

The Premier reviewed development projects being implemented by the oil and gas sector, its current production capacity and future targets.

He was also updated on the Bahrain Field project.

The Premier stressed the need to use advanced technology while implementing projects and devising plans and alternatives to maintain high production levels.

He also directed officials to manage oil reservoirs wisely to preserve national wealth and protect the environment. The Premier highlighted the need to increase investments in this vital sector and sought more research in the fields of production and export. – TradeArabia News Service
