Qatari gas export revenue surges in April, oil down

Doha, June 19, 2013

Qatar, the world's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, generated nearly four times as much revenue from gas exports than from crude oil sales in April, preliminary data from the Qatar Statistics Authority showed on Wednesday.

However, its crude export revenue fell even while volumes rose more than 3 per cent year-on-year to 617,000 barrels per day (bpd) in the month, according to official data through the Joint Organisations Data Initiative also published on Wednesday.

The average benchmark crude oil prices fell sharply from QR9.04 billion ($2.46 billion) in April last year to QR7.44 billion in April 2013.-Reuters
