Enoc offers lower sulphur diesel

Dubai, July 26, 2007

Enoc has introduced lower sulphur diesel at Enoc/Eppco service stations across Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.

The sulphur content in the newly introduced greener diesel has 500 parts per million (PPM) sulphur content down from 2,500 PPM in the previous diesel.

This new move follows a directive of the UAE government to safeguard the environment.

“As the energy partner of choice, Enoc is delighted to support the Government of UAE in an initiative for a greener environment. This new move reflects our ongoing commitment to making a positive contribution to curbing pollution and ensuring a cleaner atmosphere,” said Enoc Group chief executive Hussain Sultan.

The new diesel offers a cleaner alternative as it is less polluting to the environment because of its lower sulphur content and generates much lower amounts of particulates and NOx, which are well known causes linked to asthma and cancer.

Reducing sulphur content in fuel is an ongoing global objective to ensure an improved environment for all. In the UAE, the reduction in sulphur content in gas oil has been rapid from 5000 PPM to 2500 PPM to the current 500 PPM. - TradeArabia News Service
