IMk Concept 2

Nissan to display 14 models at Tokyo Motor Show

YOKOHAMA, Japan, October 9, 2019

Nissan will display 14 models at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show, including the IMk, a new zero-emission concept car that embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company’s vision of how cars are integrated into society.

The Nissan LEAF e+, Serena e-POWER, GT-R and the new Skyline equipped with the ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance system will also be on exhibit at the show, which takes place at Tokyo Big Sight from October 25 through November 4.

The Nissan IMk: a zero-emission urban commuter

The Nissan IMk is the ultimate urban commuter, with cutting-edge technologies and powerful EV acceleration in a compact body that signals the future of Nissan design. More than just a functional city car, it’s a chic vehicle designed to reduce driver stress while offering excitement and confidence on an all-new EV platform.

Equipped with the latest ProPILOT advanced driver assistance technologies and seamless connectivity features, the IMk provides a glimpse of how urban-oriented cars may look and feel in the near future. The IMk reflects a minimalistic aesthetic, drawing on Nissan’s new design philosophy, called Timeless Japanese Futurism. Incorporating “Japanese DNA” in details inside and outside, the concept car hints at the new direction of Nissan’s design language and how it helps bring to life the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision.

Serena e-POWER: popular minivan with award-winning e-POWER system
The Serena minivan is known as an early adopter of advanced new technologies such as ProPILOT and e-POWER. Introduced in March 2018, the Serena’s e-POWER electrified powertrain has been named Technology of the Year for 2019 by the Automotive Researchers’ and Journalists’ Conference of Japan (RJC). Refreshed in August 2019, the Serena now provides 360-degree safety protection as standard equipment across the entire model range. The updated front grille effectively communicates the Serena’s premium qualities and gives it a distinctively sporty character.

The new Nissan Skyline: premium sports sedan with ProPILOT 2.0

The Skyline name has been synonymous with Nissan technology and excitement since the first Skyline model debuted in 1957. The new Skyline HYBRIDnow comes standard with Pro-PILOT 2.0, the world’s first driver assistance system to combine navigated highway driving with hands-off capabilities.

Designed for on-ramp to off-ramp (ramp-to-ramp) highway1 driving, ProPILOT 2.0 engages with the vehicle's navigation system to help manoeuvre the car according to a predefined route on designated roadways. The system also enables hands-off driving2 while cruising in a single lane, as long as the driver’s attention is on the road ahead and the driver is ready to take over when required.

The Nissan LEAF e+: enhanced range and performance

Nissan has sold more than 430,000 Nissan LEAF electric cars globally since the model debuted in 2010. Introduced earlier this year, the LEAF e+ offers additional range and more powerful performance with a new powertrain. The high-capacity, high-density battery offers more than 40% additional range (up to 458 km under the WLTC Japan standard). The excellent energy efficiency and robust torque and power output offer customers an even more exciting driving experience.

The Nissan GT-R: ultimate driving pleasure for 50 years

The 2020 Nissan GT-R fully leverages Nissan’s racing technologies for even greater acceleration and handling performance. At this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan will display the refreshed Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary special edition model and the 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO.

•    Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary: This special edition model celebrates the GT-R’s classy but sporty character – and extraordinary history and capabilities - by featuring exclusive interior and exterior items and two-tone colour combinations reminiscent of traditional Nissan works liveries.

•    2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO: Major changes for model year 2020 are true cause for celebration – this model’s new turbochargers are the same ones used on the 2018 GT3 race car; the newly developed carbon ceramic brakes deliver unrivalled braking performance; new carbon fiber composite exterior components now include the roof, engine hood and front fenders; all combined – along with new Recaro front seats - in a near 30-kilogram weight reduction. New suspension and transmission tuning and more, create the most capable and exciting GT-R available for sale, ever.
