The Accelo ... new standards in terms of robustness.

Mercedes-Benz unveils new truck range

DUBAI, June 12, 2016

German automaker Mercedes-Benz has launched two new medium-duty truck ranges in the Middle East and Egypt.

Designed to deliver maximum productivity, exceptional driving comfort, and the highest standards of safety, the newly launched Accelo and Atego model ranges offer exceptional power and agility, a statement said.

Roland Schneider, president & CEO of Daimler Commercial Vehicles Mena, said: “There is strong demand for medium-duty trucks across a wide sector of industries and segments in our region, so versatility for fleets is essential.”

“The Accelo and Atego set new standards in terms of robustness and productivity, and with the capacity to accept a variety of body types, each model can easily be adapted to a wide range of applications and customer needs.

“In developing the Accelo and Atego ranges, Mercedes-Benz has deployed significant resources to ensure these trucks deliver maximum reliability. Ruggedness, driver comfort, payload, and easy body mounting are the features which set these trucks apart and make them the perfect tools for demanding fleets – in both private and public sectors,” he added.

The Accelo 915 C

The compact Accelo 915 C is equipped with a Mercedes-Benz 150 hp four-cylinder engine and boasts a payload of more than five tonnes. With capacity easily fitting a driver and two passengers, the Accelo cab has a modern design and ensures the highest level of occupant safety, excellent visibility and an ergonomic interior, making the drive more comfortable while increasing driver productivity and alertness. Disc brakes in the front and rear enable fast, accurate response in everyday urban traffic.

The Atego 1418 and 1725

The Atego offers superior fuel efficiency thanks to its powerful and economical engines with output ranges of 130 kW (177 hp) and 180 kW (245 hp). The two-speed rear axle enables perfect matching of the powertrain to every driving situation and maximum flexibility at the operation – from high torque to high speed at the wheels.

The Atego 1418 offers a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 14 tonnes, a six-speed synchromesh gearbox with a two-speed rear axle, and is powered by a 177 hp four-cylinder engine. The larger of the two, the Atego 1725, sports a 245 hp six-cylinder engine and offers a GVW of 17.1 tonnes. Both variants have a high load capacity and Body-builder friendly set-up that forms the basis for numerous applications.

The Atego 1725 A 4x4

The Atego 1725 A 4x4 features the proven and robust Mercedes-Benz powertrain with 245 hp, six-cylinder engine and resilient chassis and suspension system. The driven front axle is equipped with a differential lock as standard, which provides necessary additional propulsion and ensures safe and reliable operation when the going gets tough.

Both axles are fitted with drum brakes for more protection of the brake system, as well as with the reinforced stabilizers which are capable of carrying heavier loads.

For customers demanding more traction and even better off-road capabilities, the Atego 1725 A 4x4 can also be equipped with single tyres 365/85 R20 on the rear axle.

The Accelo 915 C, Atego 1418, Atego 1725 and Atego 1725 A 4x4 are launched in the GCC countries, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. – TradeArabia News Service
