Crowds at last year’s Formula One

Bahrain F1 ticket sales surge 22pc

MANAMA, April 14, 2015

Ticket sales for this weekend's Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix are up 22 per cent compared with last year, Information Affairs Minister and official government spokesman Isa Al Hammadi told a press conference after the Cabinet session yesterday (April 13).

He said ministries had been instructed to ensure a successful event, given its positive impact on the economy.

The Interior Ministry will also be extra vigilant given the large number of people attending the race, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

"The law will be applied to anyone breaking the rule, either before, during or after the Formula One as the law does not change and security will be high," he said.

"Any event that happens in Bahrain or the neighbouring countries, you need ease of movement and we know that the F1 has thousands of people going to the circuit during the race.

"So we need special arrangements for traffic." - TradeArabia News Service
