Dubai Motor Festival's ......... Dubai Grand Parade

600 cars, bikes to join Dubai Grande Parade

DUBAI, November 27, 2014

The ongoing Dubai Motor Festival (DMF) 2014 will shift into top gear this Friday (28 November) as the much-awaited Dubai Grand Parade, one of the signature attractions of this year’s DMF, unleashes motoring spectacle.

A breath-taking showcase of automotive masterpieces, the second annual Dubai Grand Parade will assemble over 600 luxury cars and bikes from the cream of the crop of global automotive marquees including Bugatti, Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Cadillac, Harley Davidson, Ducati, Triumph and more.

Setting off from Meydan Racecourse at 3 pm, the Dubai Grand Parade convoy will embark on a 47 km tour of Dubai’s main arteries to provide a unique and memorable experience for thousands of spectators experiencing the city-wide extravaganza.

The parade will be flagged off from Meydan by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the Arab world’s leading motorsport figure and 14-time FIA Middle East rally champion, as well as Kris Fade, the breakfast presenter on the No 1 English Language Radio Station, Virgin Radio Dubai 104.4.

Setting the pace for the afternoon will be Dubai Police’s world-famous supercars, which will head the motorcade as it makes its way around the city before returning to Meydan, where spectators can get up close to the cars and enjoy photo opportunities at a specially-designed Car Gallery.

Car lovers and families will have a unique opportunity to feast their eyes on some of the world’s most exclusive cars as the convoy passes several of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall and the Burj Al Arab.

Some of the stunning parade entries include Rolls-Royce Ghost Mansory, the iconic Ferrari F-50, a power-packed 8.1-litre AC Cobra and the staggeringly impressive Bugatti Veyron, the world's fastest street-legal production car.

Jin Chwen Ong, director, Dubai Motor Festival, said: “Dubai is home to a number of architectural marvels that have captured global attention, and the people of the city are known for their passion for cars and motoring. The Dubai Grand Parade brings both these aspects together in a stunning showcase of Dubai’s vibrant spirit and ambition as the region’s largest convoy of luxury automobiles pays a unique tribute to the city’s iconic buildings, bringing these landmarks into renewed focus.”

Motoring enthusiasts and families eager to watch the unique motoring spectacle can take in the Parade at two dedicated Spectator Zones at Madinat Jumeirah and Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard.

In addition, this year’s Dubai Grand Parade is aiming for glory with two Guinness World Record attempts – for the largest number of car brands in a motorcade and for the longest selfie relay.

The parade will be held under the complete supervision and support of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police. The Parade will be escorted by a contingent of Dubai Police vehicles. A large number of RTA and Dubai Police support teams will be on-site to mitigate any disruption to general traffic.

Both entities, in close collaboration with the Dubai Motor Festival and the Dubai Grand Parade organising committee, will also ensure the safety of the viewing public from a number of pre-determined vantage points. A number of emergency vehicles will also take part in the Parade and be on standby to ensure the safety of the participants and fellow road users.

The 2nd Dubai Motor Festival is taking place from November 19 to December 6, under the theme ‘Passion on Wheels’. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, DMF forms part of the emirate’s strategy to use festivals and events as a means to drive tourism growth in line with Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020. – TradeArabia News Service
