Nissan posts $3.7bn profit

Nissan Motor Co has posted an operating profit of JPY370.8 billion ($3.7 billion) for the nine months ended December 31.

The company net revenue reached JPY7.9 trillion, while its net income for the period was JPY274.1 billion.

The company sold over 3.6 million vehicles globally during the nine-month period, up one per cent year-on year, said a statement.

The net income for the quarter ended December 31, rose by JPY 30 billion to JPY 84.3 billion compared with the same three-month period for the pervious year.

Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO, said: “Nissan has delivered a solid nine-month performance amid growing demand for new models in several key markets.

“Sales in Japan and North America helped offset emerging market volatility and sluggish conditions in Europe. Based on its strong product line-up and current market demand, Nissan is maintaining its full-year earnings guidance.”

The company has launched its all-new Qashqai in Europe, the Datsun Go in India, the X-Trail, Dayz Roox and Skyline in Japan, and the Rogue in the US. - TradeArabia News Service
