Dubai, June 3, 2013

Lexus has reported 57 per cent growth in Gulf region sales for the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year.

Toyota's luxury division said it sold 9,398 units during the period, attributing the spurt to "Lexus' refined design and brand philosophy" which enabled it to consolidate its position in the luxury segment, reported the Gulf daily News, our sister publication.

"The Lexus brand has been pushing the boundaries and setting new benchmarks in customer experience with every new vehicle," Toyota Motor Corporation Middle East and North Africa representative office chief Nobuyuki Negishi said.

"The first quarter has been phenomenal, and the tremendous growth in our sales is a true reflection of the strong and rapidly growing appeal that the brand has among customers.

"Our customers appreciate new design philosophy and value the high standards that Lexus is known for in terms of refinement, comfort, driving performance, technical excellence and above all, quality.

"Our sport utility vehicle (SUV) product range did exceptionally well in the quarter, highlighting customer demand for premium offroad vehicles," he said.

The Lexus LX saw sales of 4,152 units, 37 per cent higher than the corresponding quarter last year, whereas 1,116 units of the RX range were sold, 51 per cent higher than last year.
