Renault showcases 9 cars at Dubai motor show

Dubai, December 19, 2009

French automaker Renault presented nine cars at the ongoing Dubai Motor Show including two new models making their first GCC appearance and a world debut.

The biennial Dubai International Motor Show opened on December 16 to run until December 20 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

Renault Sandero and Megane Hatchback were introduced in the GCC, while Renault Fluence made its world debut the show.

The Renault stand is also showcasing the 2010 Safrane model, Renault Koleos, the Berlinette rally racing car, the ultra modern Megane Trophy, as well as the Laguna coupe and the powerful Clio Renault Sport 200.

“We are on track with our plans for the GCC and will not defer the launch of any new models,” said Mohamed Bennani, managing director of Renault GCC.

“I am optimistic about regional auto sales picking up in the months to come and am confident in our line-up and the services we offer,” he added.

“In December 2007, we set a goal to introduce 10 new models over the next three years. It’s only been two years, and I am proud to say that we have lived up to our promise despite the financial crisis,” Bennani continued.

“In fact, 2009 has been an eventful year with three new models introduced–the Symbol, Logan and Koleos and today marks the start of sales of the much awaited Laguna coupe and Clio Renault Sport 200. We also brought the Renault F1 Roadshow to Dubai in April and opened two Renault facilities in Fujairah and Kuwait,” he said.

The Renault Fluence, manufactured in Korea by Renault Samsung Motors, has been designed and adapted especially for the region, Bennani said. The car, featuring a unique fluid design, will be available by mid-next year and will be the largest in terms of size within its segment, he added.

“We are expecting the launch of the Fluence to be a huge catalyst for growth next year. Like the success of the GCC specific Safrane, we are certain that the Fluence will be extremely popular,” Bennani said.

Making their first regional appearance, the Renault Sandero, an entry level vehicle, and the new Megane hatchback will also be available from mid next year, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
