Global Village to host international shows in Season 26
DUBAI, October 20, 2021
Global Village, the UAE and wider region's family destination for culture, shopping, and entertainment, has announced two international shows as part of the entertainment calendar in Season 26, which begins on October 26.
From the end of October and throughout November, thunderous beats will take over Global Village thanks to Aainjaa, the percussion group, from Bogotá, Colombia. In December, Swing Latino will take to the main stage with performances displaying complex stagecraft skills and breathtaking creativity.
Global Village Director of Entertainment Shaun Cornell said: “These two groups are at the pinnacle of their specialties and we’re thrilled to be able to provide this level of entertainment in Season 26. Latin music is filled with energy and passion which is what we wanted to bring to the line-up this season.
"Music and dance are central components of culture and a key part of the journey of discovery that Global Village brings to its guests.”
Adding to the street atmosphere of Global Village, the Aainjaa percussion group will perform from October 29 to November 25. The band’s name roughly translates into English as 'to do, to elaborate, to manufacture, and to build'. These performers bring talent and fun to a show, starring 30 artists dancing their way through the streets of Global Village.
Aainjaa uses different types of percussion including Cajas, Surdos, Repiniques, Brillos and Dobras. The performance is choreographed, with dancers swaying with the beat in perfect synchronisation.
Aainjaa Director Homero Cortes Ordonez said: “We are excited to perform at Global Village for Season 26. The park has a rich history and flare for celebrating cultures from around the world. Aainjaa represents an exceptional part of South American culture and of the differences that make us unique.”
Swing Latino is a Colombian Salsa dance sensation, who performed behind superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira during the 2019 Super Bowl show. The group will perform for at Global Village from December 7-31. The caleño dance style comprises of gravity-defying routines and captivating dance moves.
Their performances across the globe included being named 1st runner-up in the World of Dance show, which in turn enabled them to perform on multiple occasions with Lopez.
