Zahid Group signs up to Aramco Saudi Ladies International

JEDDAH, November 15, 2020

Zahid Group; a Saudi Arabia based, multi-national organisation encompassing a diverse portfolio of companies that operate across 11 sectors, has signed up as an official partner of the ongoing first-ever Aramco Saudi Ladies International.

Presented by PIF and taking place between November 12 and 15, 2020, the Aramco Ladies International is the first professional ladies’ golf tournament in the history of the kingdom and is the first international sporting event to return to Saudi Arabia following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The landmark occasion, sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour, has live coverage over the four days showcasing the players competing for the $1 million prize fund.

Zahid Group’s decision to sponsor the tournament as an Oryx Club partner is in line with the Group’s commitment to diversity and empowering women to achieve leadership roles across all fields; a philosophy that is consistent with Zahid Group’s values and its commitment to Vision 2030. This occasion is of particular significance as the tournament will be the first time that professional female golfers are playing competitively in the country.

Commenting on the partnership, Zayd M. Zahid, the Chief Executive Officer of Zahid Group, said: “We are delighted to support such a landmark event. The first ever Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF is representative of the great positive development taking place across Saudi Arabia. As Vision 2030’s components and plans unlock our country’s true potential, the recognition of women’s instrumental role and their contribution to society is an integral part of that formula and will elevate our overall performance, enabling our society and economy to achieve the kingdom’s lofty goals. At Zahid Group we are firm believers in diversity and inclusion being the basis for success and are proud to have a wise and well formulated plan in Vision 2030 to align ourselves with.”

Taking place at the pristine Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), north of Jeddah, on the country’s stunning Red Sea coast; the tournament will be the first professional female golf event to take place in the kingdom. The tournament will see a field of 108 LET (Ladies European Tour) professionals contest for one of the richest prizes on the LET Schedule.

Staged in collaboration with Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation, the 72-hole stroke play (four rounds) competition, will be broadcast domestically and to more than 340 million homes across more than 55 countries worldwide; inspiring a new generation of golfers throughout the kingdom and across the globe.

Majed Al Sorour, CEO of the Saudi Golf Federation and Golf Saudi, said: “We are proud to have the Zahid Group as a partner of the inaugural Saudi Ladies International. Their early support will allow us to develop golf in the kingdom, whilst simultaneously demonstrating their commitment to professionalism, best-in-class practices, exceptional values, and of course Saudi Arabia’s Vision for the future.”

Originally planned for March, the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF will be held in a safe bio-secure environment to comply with the health and safety guidelines following Covid-19. Select guests will be treated to an exclusive hospitality programme that is expected to set a new standard in quality and experience in golf, with gourmet cuisine, private meeting areas and bespoke viewing platforms to enjoy a unique perspective of the action. -- Tradearabia News Service
