Bahrain closes cinemas; self-quarantine for arrivals

MANAMA, March 17, 2020

Bahrain has introduced several new measures, effective from tomorrow (March 18) to combat the spread of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
 
All cinemas in the kingdom will be closed for a month and restaurant services will be limited to deliveries and takeaways, reports said.
 
All travellers coming into the country will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.
 
The measures were announced by the Executive Committee chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
 
However, the notification made clear that work at public and private organisations will continue as normal and commercial and shopping malls will also remain open.
 
Other decisions announced include:
* Private sport centres, gyms, swimming pools and recreational centres will be closed
* The first opening hour of supermarkets will be for the elderly and pregnant women.
* Gathering of more than 20 people are not allowed.
