KPMG event to focus on challenges facing family businesses

MANAMA, September 24, 2017

The latest trends, opportunities and challenges for family business groups will be probed during the Middle East and South Asia (MESA) Family Business Conference, being organised by KPMG on October 3 and 4 at Meydan hotel in Dubai.

Attendees will also gain insight from subject matter experts who own, work for or work with family businesses, a statement said.

Family enterprises account for a major share of businesses across the region in most industries.  The 21st Century is a new era of global opportunity – particularly for family businesses that appreciate the importance of planning and managing transitions in leadership, governance and ownership. All business families have the challenge of planning a handover from one generation to the next. The KMPG Family Business Conference is designed for business families interested in exploring the latest strategies about family business leadership, it said.

The two-day conference will feature a keynote presentation and interactive workshops moderated by Christine Blondel, Adjunct Professor from the Wendel International Centre for Family Enterprise at Insead. Workshops and panel discussions will cover the following areas: leadership in family businesses, succession and next generation, women and the family business, wealth preservation, governance and philanthropy.

Family business owners and leaders from the Gulf region and the wider Middle East and South Asia regions are expected to attend the event, which provides the ideal opportunity for networking and knowledge-sharing, the statement said.
