CAIRO, February 1, 2017

Hadeer Shalaby, the general manager of Careem Cairo, the region’s leading app-based car booking service, was recognized as one of the Top 50 Women in Egypt at an event organised and hosted by Amwal Al Ghad.

The event was held under the auspices of Dr Sherif Ismail, Egypt’s Prime Minister. Hadeer was the youngest among all the honoured women.

With a love for entrepreneurship and youth organisations, the 26-year-old Shalaby was the first to introduce a car reservation service in 2015 at the North Coast with via phone “Taxi El Sa7el” and is a firm believer that passion is the key to achieve success in life.

In November 2014, Shalaby was recruited by the Dubai-based company Careem to start the business in Cairo as the general manager of Careem Cairo. By June 2015, Careem had acquired Taxi Al Sahel. In her role, she is responsible for managing and overseeing all hiring processes to maintain the company’s global standards among the captains in Careem’s huge fleet, in addition to providing training courses on safety, and maintaining the quality service provided by Careem to all customers in the Egyptian market in line with the company’s international standards.

Prior to joining Careem, Shalaby was the president and founder of AIESEC in Lebanon.

She has a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration and marketing from the American University in Cairo (AUC). – TradeArabia News Service
