Dubai Culture appoints CEO of happiness

DUBAI, January 16, 2017

The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority has appointed Latifa bin Demaithan as chief of happiness and positivity in the authority, in addition to her role as office manager of the vice chairman of Dubai Culture.

The new appointment supports the UAE leadership’s vision of bringing happiness to all walks of society and preserving the legacy of its inspiring founding fathers – a directive that came from His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Supervised by Ohoud bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness in the UAE, The National Program of Happiness and Positivity has recently appointed a group of 60 chief executive officers from various public departments. The CEOs will be responsible for bringing the program’s goals to fruition, by nurturing an environment of happiness for the individual, family and community.

Dubai Culture has followed suit by assembling The Happiness Team, which will work to promote happiness and positivity within the authority. By making happiness a key tenet of its day-to-day work, the authority hopes to spread a culture of happiness and positivity from the inside out, inspiring its happy employees to redouble their efforts in the culture and arts sectors through new events and projects.

Saeed Al Nabouda, acting director general at Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: “In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we at Dubai Culture are working hard to create a happy environment for individuals, families and staff, and to establish positivity as a foundational value in UAE society. Our Happiness Team will support both The National Program for Happiness and Positivity and Dubai’s Plan 2021, by enhancing the impact of our artistic and cultural initiatives, and striving to make Dubai a city of happy, creative and empowered individuals.”

Demaithan said: “We are giving happiness and positivity pride of place in our daily work environment, and we look forward to instilling these key values in the Authority’s employees. We are confident that this will be an inspiring incentive for all of our staff and that, together, we will make every possible effort to achieve the Authority’s national objectives.”
The Happiness Team at Dubai Culture has launched the first internal initiative of its happiness program – ‘Make it Happen’ – an initiative that will run from the 16th January until the end of March 2017 to spread happiness and positivity among its employees.

In May 2016, Dubai Culture was recognized as the first Happiness Partner to execute the Happiness Agenda in partnership with Smart Dubai. Dubai Culture is supporting Smart Dubai in its efforts to lead a culture shift in the city, via programmes and projects that are designed to inspire individuals, businesses and the city’s leaders to prioritise happiness.

Through its varied calendar of initiatives, Dubai Culture aims to enrich the city’s cultural scene and put a spotlight on the Emirate’s rich heritage. - TradeArabia News Service
