Marka, Hearst launch Harper’s Bazaar Café in Dubai

DUBAI, May 10, 2016

Marka, atop retail operator in the UAE, plans to expand its restaurant portfolio in the Mena region by teaming up with Hearst Magazines International to launch the world’s first Harper’s Bazaar Café in Dubai Design District (d3).

Harper’s Bazaar Café will offer diners an exceptional culinary experience in a refined and sophisticated setting, with lavish and luxurious fixtures and fittings.

Hesham Almekkawi, managing director of Marka Hospitality, said: “We are proud to be opening the world’s first Harper’s Bazaar Café in Dubai’s Design District. The Harper’s Bazaar Café is perfectly situated to be a meeting place for the fashion-forward creatives of d3 that manage both local and international talent alike, a statement said.

This novel concept was designed with Dubai’s foodies and socialites in mind, as well as its art, design and fashion communities, as it brings Harper’s Bazaar’s distinct point-of-view to life, through cuisine, culture and style, it added.

“Harper’s Bazaar launched in Dubai in 2007, and was immediately embraced by fashion-forward readers in the UAE, who love the expertly curated, graphic style and visual energy that defines the brand around the world,” Gautam Ranji, Hearst Magazines International senior vice president, licensing and business development, said. “The Café brings that vision to life, in a chic environment that highlights ultimate luxury: extraordinary service.”

The Harper’s Bazaar Café has a dining capacity of 140, with 74 interior seats and 66 across the 166 m2 outdoor terrace, which is inspired by the secret gardens and retreats of renowned fashion houses. The terrace provides an enticing entrance to the café itself as well an ideal event space.
