Islamic New Year holiday on Oct 15

Bahrain and the UAE have announced public holiday on Thursday (October 15) for the Islamic New Year.

His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Prime Minister, issued a circular stating that the kingdom's ministries, directorates and public institutions will be on a recess on the first day of Muharram 1437H corresponding to October 15, said a BNA report

Meanwhile, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Minister of Education and chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, issued a a circular to all federal ministries and institutions regarding the Islamic New Year, which may fall on October 14, to be transposed, or compensated, to October 15, said a Wam news agency report.

The UAE Ministry of Labour also stated that October 15 will be an official paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE to celebrate the Islamic New Year, Wam said.
