Bahrain expo inspired by famous fable opens

MANAMA, April 24, 2015

An exhibition inspired by famous tale Kalila and Dimna opened yesterday (April 23) at the Bahrain National Museum.

The Fables Across Time exhibit will run until September 30, and is being held in collaboration with the Children's Museum of Indianapolis in the US, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

It was opened by Bahrain Authority for Culture And Antiquities president Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa in the presence of other officials.

The expo examines fables from a number of aspects, including technical, historical and social values.

The exhibition includes an original, rare manuscript of Kalila and Dimna.

A talk by Dr Sabiha Al Khemir on Heritage and Modernity was held after the opening ceremony, as well as a number of workshops offered to children.

Kalila and Dimna is the Arabic translation of the Indian animal fables Panchatantra, which was believed to be composed around 3BC and translated into Arabic in 750AD. - TradeArabia News Service
