Bahrain unveils new plan to fight terror

MANAMA, September 8, 2014

Bahrain has unveiled a new two-pronged strategy to beef up security and counter terrorist threats.

"All measures will be taken to bridge any gaps, and remedy any loopholes through which the scourge of terror may spread to the homeland," said the Premier in a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Bahrain will also step up co-ordination with regional and international actors in the global fight against terror.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa affirmed the counter-terrorism plan as he received - in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier - Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh along with MPs and Shura members.

The Premier stressed the need to protect national unity from subversive elements preying on the nation.

He commended the people of Bahrain who will always foil conspiracies targeting the homeland. "Bahrain is lucky to be endowed with such a loyal people, famed for their honourable stances all along our national history."

The Premier also voiced concern over the untenable situation in the Arab world, warning against a potential surge of cross-border terror threats in the region. - TradeArabia News Service
