Saudi food consumption to hit $113bn

Saudi Arabia’s food consumption is expected to grow by 53 per cent to reach $113 billion by 2016, said a report.

Per capita food consumption is also expected to grow by 40 per cent over the same period to reach $2,104, the report released ahead of a major agro-food trade show said.

Saudi Agro-Food, the 21st international trade show for food products, ingredients and technologies, will focus on the latest industry trends for the local and regional food markets.

Additionally, the trade show will focus on presentation, processing and packaging equipments for food items, a statement said.

The event will be held from September 7 to 10 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event will offer international, regional and local companies a platform to discuss key issues, discover new investment opportunities, facilitate business deals with major stakeholders, and network with the leading industry professionals, it said. - TradeArabia News Service
