Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority (eGA) said it has developed applications for smartphones, through ideas given by participants of the ‘Government App Star’ competition recently launched for the public sector employees.

The seven winners of the 139 participants were honoured by Ahmed Buhazza, the eService Delivery and Channel Enhancement director.

Each winner received gift vouchers from Bahrain City Center in appreciation for their efforts.

The winning apps included the 'Blood Bank App’, 'Electricity & Water Meter Reading App', ‘Bahrain Transportation App’, ‘Smart Alarm App’, 'Bahrain Medicine or Analysis App’, 'Bahrain Business Explorer’, and 'Review & Payment of LMRA Fees’.  

The competition aimed to encourage and promote a culture of innovation in the government service delivery, said Buhazza.

Public sector employees took part by giving their feedback and comments to develop smartphone applications for the benefit of the Bahraini nationals, expatriates and visitors.

The authority has launched new government eServices in smartphone applications on a yearly basis in line with the objectives of the National eGovernment Strategy 2016. - TradeArabia News Service
