Ireland data firm launches UAE ops

Dubai, November 24, 2013

Ireland-based Glenbeigh Records Management (GRM), a top records management company, has expanded operations to the UAE with an investment of Dh25 million ($6.8 million) in a 100,000 sq ft purpose-built facility in Dubai.

Located in Dubai World Central, the site offers state-of-the-art storage solutions and advanced security systems guaranteed to protect corporate information assets.

The majority of businesses worldwide face significant losses in both time and money due to poor data management - research shows that only around a third of companies have a strategy in place to protect against data loss - and standards in the UAE are believed to be behind Europe and the US.

According to a 2009 study, over 50 per cent of businesses in the United States had experienced an unforeseen interruption over the previous two years, and the vast majority (81 per cent) of these interruptions caused the business to be closed one or more days. In the case of suffering a fire, 44 per cent of enterprises fail to reopen.

Eighty per cent of businesses suffering a major disaster close within three years, while 40 per cent of businesses that experience a critical IT failure go out of business within one year.

“Document management can take many different roles for modern businesses. Whilst technology continues to play an increased role in document generation and storage, many businesses still have around 60-70 per cent of important information on paper,” explained Declan Brady, managing director, Glenbeigh Records Management.

“Much of this is easily lost or misfiled which wastes time, as well as compromising vital information, which may never be recovered. All data, whether paper based or computer-generated, is vulnerable to disasters such as fire and flood and research shows that only a relatively small number of businesses have a recovery plan in place.

“The UAE has a vibrant economy and companies need to consider how their data is being managed, stored and protected, in order to maximise efficiency and guarantee their assets.”

GRM specialises in offsite document storage, scanning and imaging solutions, offsite media storage, vault storage, document destruction, and consultancy, designed to support businesses in managing and safeguarding their data.

Sophisticated software tracks every step of the record's lifecycle, from document creation, storage, delivery and retrieval. Clients are given remote access, ensuring they remain in control of their information and GRM guarantees soft copy delivery of documents worldwide within one hour.

GRM is part of the Glenbeigh Group, which was established in Ireland in 1985. – TradeArabia News Service
